Hole 1

Black

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 388 m

A challenging opening tee shot with trees guarding the left and right of the fairway. Most players will find themselves with a tricky downhill second shot to a narrow green that is very firm and feeds off in all directions. Accuracy is a must.

A drive of 245m down hill to a narrow fairway leaves a shot of 143m to a narrow long green protected by mounds and swales.

Hole 2

Black

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 186 m

The longest and most difficult of Windsor’s par 3’s with a long iron or fairway wood played to an upraised green.

Any ball not reaching the putting surface on the full will feed back down the hill at the front of the green or roll off to the right.

Hole 3

Black

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 547 m

The difficult start does not let up at Windsor with the 549m 3rd hole. The fairway slopes off to the right so the tee shot is best played up the left hand side.

After a few more shots you reach the tiny green which again feeds off at all sides. Much better to be short than long on this one.

Hole 4

Black

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 376 m

A gentle dog leg left, the 4th hole is not difficult if the ball is kept on the fairway. The pines left and right will catch an errant tee shot.

Approaching the green there is a bunker guarding the front left of the green which should be avoided before a green which is a lot flatter than it looks

Hole 5

Black

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 348 m

Perhaps the most difficult tee shot on the course, the ball needs to be accurate and placed about 190m off the tee. The long hitters may be able to cut off the corner but even then the landing area is minimal.

The second shot needs to be equally as accurate to a very narrow green with bunkers right and a nasty lie and difficult pitch shot on the left.

Hole 6

Black

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 345 m

A shorter par 4 measuring 345m, most players will play the ball up the middle of the fairway about 190m leaving 150 to the green but longer hitters can chance their arm over the trees for a shorter approach.

The green is straight forward with decieving mounds about 10 metres short of the putting surface.

Hole 7

Black

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 136 m

A short par 3 over water, the 7th hole has a generous green but you are penalised severely if you miss left or right.

The green has a tier in its middle and the hole can be simplified if the ball is left on the correct level for the birdie putt.

Hole 8

Black

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 359 m

A challenging tee shot for the weekend golfer with water covering the line to the fairway. The water carry is about 200m straight over the path and is increased to the left or decreased to the right.

The shot to the green is tough with mounds right, a bunker left and anything short rolling back off the green.

Hole 9

Black

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 369 m

A tee shot straight up the hill must be kept to the left of the mounds for a clear shot at the green. The second shot is made much more difficult with some massive bunkers in front of the green and a small pot bunker off to the right.

Once on the green it doesn’t get any easier with an uneven slope running through the centre of the green.

Hole 10

Black

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 472 m

One of the easier tee shots on the nine where you can open your shoulders up and have a go. The ball is better placed down the right side for a better angle at the fairway and green for your second shot.

The approach to the green must be accurate with bunkers left and right and a narrow green.

Hole 11

Black

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 173 m

A generous sized green but a very tough chip shot if missed left, right or long.

Water off to the right is not in play except for the slicers and the fence to the left will only claim the biggest of hooks. The green reads truly.

Hole 12

Black

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 284 m

A short par 4 that goes back up the hill with out of bounds up the entire right side. The larger tree in the fairway must be avoided to find the mown surface, but if the fairway is found then the second shot is straight forward.

A very severe green that slopes drastically from back to front.

Hole 13

Black

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 148 m

A tricky par 3 with a tough green to hit. Generally plays slightly longer than its 150m and is a challenging mid iron with mounds left and bunkers right.

The green is often quicker down the hill than most players think and care should be taken with all putts on this tricky green.

Hole 14

Black

  • Par: 5
  • Distance: 511 m

A long par 5 with out of bounds well right. The tee shot should be taken up the left to avoid fariway bunkers right and to counter the slope of the fairway.

The second shot is straight forward as is the approach to the green provided you do not stray left as the green falls away on that side.

Hole 15

Black

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 378 m

A long uphill par 4 but with a generous fairway to hit to. An extra club or two is required for the approach due to the steep hill and because any ball falling short will roll back down the hill.

A tough green with an importance on being in the correct tier for an easier putt.

Hole 16

Black

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 294 m

A reachable par 4 for the long hitters. A shot can be played down the fairway about 180m for an easy approach to the green or the adventurous players can hit their shot left to right with a driver and go over the trees for a shorter approach.

Straight forward green guarded by bunkers left and right.

Hole 17

Black

  • Par: 3
  • Distance: 130 m

An underrated hole at Windsor and only short at 130m, the 17th is a challenging hole. A short iron to a shallow but wide green that cannot be missed anywhere but short.

The bunker is not in play for a well struck shot but anywhere left, right or long will leave an incredibly difficult chip to an upraised green from thick rough.

https://files.golfer.com.au/uploads/website_image/category_element/92374/preview_wgc18.jpg

Hole 18

Black

  • Par: 4
  • Distance: 351 m

A challenging finishing hole up the hill towards the clubhouse. Once on the fairway the green sits very generous in size but slopes steeply from back to front.

Shots positioned above the hole can leave a very treacherous downhill putt.
